Protecting Georgia's Farmers and Rural Communities

·Beth Camp

Georgia is an agricultural state, and nowhere is that more true than in House District 135. The farms of Lamar, Pike, and Spalding counties are not just businesses — they are legacies. They are families who have worked the same land for generations, who get up before dawn and work until dark, and who feed not just our district but our nation.

Those families deserve a representative who understands their challenges and fights for their interests in Atlanta. That is exactly what I intend to be.

This session I have been focused on reducing the regulatory burden on our agricultural community. Too many well-intentioned rules have piled up over the years, creating compliance costs that squeeze already-thin margins. I have been working to identify and eliminate regulations that hurt our farmers without providing meaningful benefit.

Rural broadband is also an agricultural issue. Modern farming depends on connectivity — for precision agriculture, for market access, for weather data, for running a business. When our farmers cannot get reliable internet service, they are competing with one hand tied behind their back. Expanding rural broadband is a priority I will not let go of.

I am also committed to protecting Georgia farmland from development pressures and ensuring that our agricultural infrastructure — roads, water systems, rural electric cooperatives — receives the investment it needs to support the next generation of Georgia farmers.

Our farmers feed the world. The least we can do is make sure their government is working for them.
